This unique temple, perched high on a mountain, is reached via a scenic trail from the village. As you descend, take in the breathtaking views of the Punakha Valley.

In the afternoon, visit Punakha Dzong, the second-largest and one of the oldest dzongs in Bhutan, which is also a UNESCO tentative site. Situated at the confluence of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers, this majestic fortress is where the two rivers combine to form the Puna Tsang Chhu, a tributary of the mighty Brahmaputra River. Constructed in 1638 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal Wangchuck, the dzong was built on the exact spot prophesized by Guru Rinpoche.
