Sapa in Lao Cai province at the Northwest of Vietnam  is the home to numerous colorful hill tribes  - Black H'mong, Flower H'mong, Red Dao etc and situation at the highest peak of Mount Fansipan in Indochina region ( 3143m high ) with an average attitude of 1900m.

Day 1
Hanoi – Arrival: Hanoi – Lao Cai by train

Arrive Hanoi.

Meet at the airport and transfer to have dinner in town (guest own account) then drive to train station.

20:40    Board on train to Lao Cai,

Journey in style and comfort in a compact yet fully-equipped cabins featuring air-conditioning, reading lights, comfortable beds and Sapa-inspired décor.  

Overnight on the train (04 berths/shared cabin)

Day 2
Lao Cai – Sapa: Cycling to Lech [ Red Dao ]

05:30 Arrive.  Meet at the train station and transfer to have breakfast at hotel in Sapa and have refreshment.

You will start the cycling trip by following the main road for three kilometers to Lech village of the Red Dao minority, observing the magnificent valley view on the way. Here you will leave your bikes and take a short walk to visit a traditional Red Dao family. You will get close to the culture of the minority villagers who are living peacefully in the same way as their ancestors. Back at the parking place, you will take a further ride to the Ban Moi village where you will take a longer break to learn about the women and their embroidery, which the Red Dao people are very famous for. From the village, you head back to the lodge. Check in and overnight.

Grade: Easy / Approx: 1.5 hours biking/ 30 minutes walking/ elevation up 220 m/ down 170 m

Note:  4 hours biking around 35 km /elevation between 900m - 1900m

Day 3
Sapa: Ban Ho Valley Cycling (Ban Ho – Thanh Phu – My Son)

You will start from the lodge by cycling on a quiet road for a while before enjoying a long descent to Ban Ho village. At the bottom of the valley, you will meet the Tay minorities, the largest ethnic minority group living in Sapa area, famous for their traditional stilt houses and silk wear. You will be warmly welcomed to visit their houses and experience the daily life of farming and fishing in the river. Leaving Ban Ho village your ride becomes a bit more challenging with ascending parts on winding roads. At Thanh Phu village, also inhabited by Tay minority, your lunch is served at a nice local family where you enjoy the valley view while tasting the local foods.

In the afternoon, you have another short ride to visit the My Son village of Xa Pho ethnic minority, who is one of the smallest ethnic groups in Vietnam. The Xa Pho people are very poor and still keeping their original way of life: getting married early, dyeing their teeth in black…

Your biking trip ends at My Son. You then transfer back to the lodge.

Approx: Grade: Moderate / Distance 19 km/ 4,5hour biking/ 1 hour lunch/ 1 hour walking.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner provided.

Day 4
[ Sapa – Hang Da – Hau Chu Ngai – Sapa ] Lao Cai – Hanoi

You will transfer 6km to Hang Da village, to start your hike. The trek begins with an ascent from Hang Da village to Hau Chu Ngai village, both of which are home to the Black Hmong ethnic group. From the villages, the trail heads mostly straight downhill with beautiful views of the mountains, and the deep valley of Muong Hoa on your right. After about two hours hiking you will reach another village, Thao Hong Den, which is also home to the Black Hmong minority. Here you will stop to experience the traditional way of life of the Black H’mong minority, the second biggest ethnic minority group in Sapa. You will have a chance to visit a local family and learn more about their culture and lifestyle. Finally, you will descend to the main road where your driver will pick you up to drive back to Sapa town.

Grade: Moderate / Approx: 17 km driving/ 1hour; 4.6 km hiking/ 2.5 hours.

Transfer back to lodge and have refreshment at the lodge.

Late afternoon, proceed to the Lao Cai Train Station

19:30    Board on train to Hanoi. 

Overnight on the train (04 berths/shared cabin)

Day 5
Arrive and Depart Hanoi

04:30    Arrive Hanoi Train station.

Meet representative, then proceed to town and have breakfast then transfer to Hanoi Airport.

Depart Hanoi for your onward flight.
