Ubud – Kintamani – Penglipuran – Ubud
Day 3
0 Day

Depart Ubud for an excursion to Mt Batur. You’ll drive along small, scenic roads offering beautiful views of the rice fields and the daily life of the Balinese farmers.

We first stop to visit the unique temple of Gunung Kawi. Set amidst lush rice terraces, these 11th century temples feature 10 rock-cut Candi (shrines) carved into the cliff face. They stand at 7-metre-high and combine ancient Hindu and Buddhist temple attributes. There are numerous stairs leading down to the temple and good walking shoes are recommended. Continue to the nearby village of Tampaksiring Village to explore Tirta Empul, a temple famous for its sacred spring water. IMPORTANT NOTE: Holy water ritual cannot be guaranteed as this ritual is not always done every day unless when it falls during several ceremonial days. All Balinese will bathe there at least once a year for a ritual cleaning in these holy waters dedicated to Vishnu. Drive further to the North until we reach Kintamani, a volcanic region where Mt Batur is standing with its breathtaking views. Adjacent to the volcano is the large crescent-shaped Batur Lake, all surrounded by the high walls of the crater rim. Lunch is on own account. In the afternoon, we drive back to Ubud by a different road towards the area of Bangli with some stops for visiting Penglipuran, a traditional countryside village for its unique building style and architecture. On the way back to Ubud we make a last stop at the Kehen temple, often called the miniature version of Besakih.

After sightseeing, back to hotel. Dinner is on own account
