The district of Stiavnica became the object of intense interest in the middle ages. In brief document sources it is called as the territory of miners! The mine excursion offers viewing of historical mining objects (architecture and machines), as well as possibility to see and actually enter a former medieval historical mine. Follow the underground path, through old galleries, where silver and gold were exploited. Finished with mine? Keep going!  Stop at the building complex of the Old Castle which includes also the Chapel of St. Michael and one of the most elegant architectural dominants of the town – New Castle. It stands as the guard near the entrance to Banska Stiavnica.
