An island nation at Pacific Ocean in East Asia, it lies to the east of China, Korea, and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south.
It comprises over three thousand islands, the largest of which are Honshū, Hokkaidō, Kyūshū and Shikoku. The Greater Tokyo Area, which includes Tokyo and several surrounding prefectures, is the largest metropolitan area in the world, with over 30 million residents.

MONEY AND EXCHANGE
Japanese YEN, most of Japanese used cash in the country.  The currency can exchange freely in or outside of the country.  There are foreign Exchange counters at all the airports in Japan.
Japanese public transportation, most shops and restaurants and other public service facilities do not accept foreign currencies, therefore you may need a certain amount of Japanese yen in cash for these kinds of immediate uses.  However credit cards like VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, JCB etc… are widely accepted in the country.

From almost all post office ATMs countrywide money can be withdrawn with foreign credit cards.
 
TRANSPORTATION
JR (Japan Railway) Rail Pass
First class passes (for use with green cars) and ordinary type passes (for use on standard cars) are available. Available for 7 days, 14 days, and 21 days respectively.  JR Rail passes allow you to travel using the entire Japan Railway (JR) system throughout Japan with few exceptions. East Japan passes, West Japan passes, and passes for Kyushu, and Hokkaido are also available for use within those areas. Prices and length of passes may vary.

JAL Yokoso Japan Air Pass

Buses
Buses are in service throughout Japan by numerous companies and runs through from airports to cities.  Airport buses may be useful for most of tourists aside form taking the JR trains.

When you buy from the Internet, please indicate to deliver to your hotel one day before your arrival or you can pick up at the airport, this will be convenience for having the internet service to get the local travel information and maps while you are travelling Japan.

ELECTRICITY
Voltage throughout Japan is 100v A.C., with 50 hertz in Eastern and 60 hertz in Western Japan. Purchase of appropriate converters before arrival is neccesary for daily appliances being brought to Japan.

ACCOMMODATION
There are various of hotels in Japan for travellers.  There are International hotel chains at most of cities in Japan, however only the luxurary hotels will provide king sized bed and specious rooms.  Room types will be single, semi double, double and twin. 
RYOKAN – Japanese tradational  hotel, for those who wanted to experience the elements of Japanese culture and customs: living in a room with Tatami (straw mat) flooring, changing into a typical Yukata (robe) after taking an Onsen hot-spring bath, sleeping on a Futon (bedding) put  directly on the floor.  Normally served with breakfast and dinner while staying at Ryokan.
